Valley claim a point at home to rivals Hanwell Town

RUGBY Town played out a cagey draw with play-off rivals Hanwell Town at Butlin Road after a game of few chances.

Valley started the brighter with Robbie Burns and Lewis Rankin going close early on.

And Rugby took a deserved lead inside 20 minutes as the impressive Craig Kelly cut inside his man from left back before firing in an unstoppable effort from outside the area.

The visitors did pose a threat and goalkeeper Richard Morris showed great reflexes to save from Dayo Olafemi.

Hanwell improved in the second half and Morris had to be out sharply to deny Bill Healey after he was played through.

Hanwell got their equaliser on the hour mark as Healey headed home powerfully from Jackson’s excellent cross.

Valley spurned the best chance of the game late on as Burns scooped the ball over the bar from six yards as he arrives late at the far post.
