A MAN from Rugby has arranged an open day to showcase a number of adaptive sports and activities in Coventry later this summer.

Colin Wood, founder of the World Adaptive Boxing Council (WABC), has organised an open day at the HADO Arena in Coventry.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 25 with activities to run from 10am to 4pm.

Wood said: “We are thrilled to invite the adaptive community to book on our free adaptive boxing and sports open day at the Hado Coventry.

“Whether you are a seasoned athlete or just starting your journey, our facility is designed to provide a supportive and accessible environment for everyone.”

Adaptive athletes can try specialised wheelchair accessible equipment, AR sensory friendly zones or guided strength equipment.

The event also offers inclusive classes including seated, adaptive and impact mobility sessions led by expert trainers.

Wood has also put plans in place to play the first wheelchair rugby game on grass in 2027.

Wood also founded the British and Irish Wheelchair Rugby Association (BWRU/L) with Great Britain and Ireland to take on the United States of America in a game in July 2027.
