Teenager Bethan Ellis set for cricket tour of South Africa

A FAST-BOWLING teenage cricketer is preparing to jet off for a tour of South Africa.

Fifteen year-old Princethorpe College pupil Bethan Ellis has been invited to join the Warwickshire Women’s Development Squad on a two week tour next February.

The fast bowler, whose now playing her fourth season for the county, heads up the College 1st team as well as playing for Berkswell and Standard Clubs.

Her winter nets season has seen her training four times a week travelling as far as Edgbaston to improve her game.




In Bethan’s view women’s cricket is definitely on the up.

She said: “England’s Women’s Ashes victory in 2014 has made its mark. There are more women playing and younger girls getting involved.”


A Princethorpe College Sixth Form Sports Scholarship has been awarded to Bethan who also competes at 1st team hockey level as well as participating in a range of other sports.
