A CENTURION on the international stage has been acquired by Coventry University after handing Singapore national team captain Hariss Harun a scholarship.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who has acquired 101 caps and scored ten goals for the Southeast Asian country, has accepted a sports excellence education scholarship by the University’s partner in Harun’s native Singapore – PSB Academy.

Having accepted the offer, Harun will study for a bachelor of arts with honours degree in business and marketing – delivered by PSB in Singapore – whilst continuing to play for Malaysia Super League outfit Johor Darul Ta’zim.

And with his career prospects after football being broadened by the scholarship, Harun says he cannot wait to begin his course with Coventry University.

“It’s an honour to have earned this scholarship and I felt it was the perfect time for me to take this opportunity,” he said.

“I feel it’s important to prepare for life after football and while I am happy and grateful to have made football my career, the next phase of my life will be important.

“Coventry is a renowned university and I’m confident that this degree course will equip me with the skills and knowledge I need for the future.”

It is not the first time the University have offered programmes across the other side of the globe, having developed their partnership with PSB Academy over the last six years to offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
