Rugby cyclists line-up at Princethorpe for K10/10 course

CYCLING: RUGBY Road Cycling Club had 48 riders take part in its ten-mile time trial on the K10/10 course based at Princethorpe.

The race provided another win for Craig McKee, although there were some excellent times from the six private entries including George Goodwin (21.36) and Birmingham based race Lauren Creamer (22.34).

Conditions for the race were not ideal, with occasional drizzle and unfavourable wind taking the edge off times.

A serious road traffic accident before the race was due to start was cleared before riders arrived for the event, meaning the racing started on time.

McKee won the race in a time of 20mins 50secs.

David Newton finished second in 22mins 6secs while Lewis Jones (22mins 14secs) came third.

Other standout performances came from Mark Wise, Richard Bray, Peter Busby, and Andy Craig.

In the handicap race, Brian Haycock finished in a time of 17mins 59secs while Lewis Jones came runner up in 18mins 54secs.

Andy Craig took the Over 40s crown, Richard Bray won the Over 50s and Mike Smallwood claimed the Over 60s title.
