RUGBY moved up to fifth in the Warwickshire Premier League thanks to a comfortable 136-run victory away at Solihull Municipal.

The visitors elected to bat first after winning the toss and they made a bright start, reaching 82 for 2, but four wickets in quick succession but Rugby under pressure at 100 for 7.

Steve Ward entered the crease at number eight and scored what proved to be a superb match-winning knock of 63 not out from just six ball in an innings which saw him score eight fours and two sixes.

Jack Rosser (25) and Lee Golding (28) also chipped in late on as Rugby were eventually bowled all out for 224 from 47 overs.

Both Matt Stanely and James Rosleyn were the pick of the bowlers for Solihull Municipal after taking four wickets each but they got off to the worst possible starts in their reply by losing James Roslyn for 0 early on.

The home side were struggling at 13 for 4 and never really looked like getting close to Rugby’s target. Jamie Bissett top-scored with 37 but Solihull Municipal were bowled all out for just 88 from 33.1 overs.
