Goodwin provides upset at Rugby RCC time trial

Rugby Editorial 11th Aug, 2017   0

CYCLING: COOL conditions and the occasional drizzle affected proceedings at Rugby RCC’s ten-mile time trial at the weekend on a normally fast paced K10/10 Princethorpe circuit.

With a strong headwind on the return leg from Ryton to Marton, student George Goodwin – riding as a private entry – provided an upset by setting the fastest time of the evening by one second from Craig McKee.

The unfavourable conditions often affect the slower riders, meaning Craig McKee won the handicap event as the only rider to complete the circuit in under 20 minutes.

The depleted field of 39 riders were mostly disappointed with their times, but everyone finished safely with no mechanical problems.

Result: Craig McKee 20-57, Ryan Kenworthy 21-49, Richard Bray 22-40, Chris Parsons 23-24, Dave Elliott 23-28, Adrian Tayles 23-32, Peter Busby 23-36, Mike McCann 23-42, Ben Robson 23-57, Chris Orfeur 24-06, Richard Wayman 24-08, Peter Wright 24-09, Dean Mason 24-25, Karl Eveleigh 24-32, Jason Baggett 24-45, Phil Scott 24-50, Martin Orrill 24-54, Ian Jackson 25-00, Paul Thurman 25-05, Peter Timmins 25-10, Jonathan Jordan 25-15, Howard Beale 25-19, Mike Smallwood 25-22, Andy Dean 25-22, Piotr Parkitny 25-32, Anthony Smith 25-48.
