RUGBY Town ended their pre-season campaign with another narrow 1-0 defeat at home to NPL Premier side Barwell.
It was a fourth straight home game where Valley have failed to find the net but there were plenty of signs of encouragement for Gary Mills’ men against their higher league opponents at Butlin Road on Saturday.
Striker David Kolodynski could have had a hat-trick on another day as Rugby created a number of chances.
But it was the visitors who got the breakthrough as experienced defender Guy Hadland struck a spectacular volley from a first half corner to give Barwell the victory.
The result means a fourth straight home friendly defeat without scoring a goal but there was certainly plenty for Gary Mills’ men to be encouraged about against their higher league opponents at a hot Butlin Road.
