Veteran Stuart Robson completes Coventry Bees lineup

Rugby Editorial 7th Jan, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016

EXPERIENCED rider Stuart Robson has been confirmed as Bees’ final signing for the 2015 Elite League season.

Robson returns for a fourth spell with his first top-flight club, who he initially represented back in 1995.

He has already spent ten campaigns in Bees colours and made some spectacular guest appearances in home meetings last season.

With just over five points remaining for their final team member, Bees had options to consider including the foreign rider market, but promoter Mick Horton and manager Gary Havelock are in agreement that Robson’s experience is the correct call.

“We wanted someone who we know will be able to hit the ground running in that No.2 position, and Robbo is always going to be able to pick up those important points.” said Horton.

“He has so much experience of all the tracks, he’s popular with the supporters and I’m sure he’ll do a great job for us. He’s a trier, and a 100 per cent racer.

“There are certain riders who are Coventry through and through, and Robbo is definitely in that category, I’d also say that about Aaron Summers as well.

“We’ve gone for Stuart, he knows the club inside-out and I certainly think as a team we are going to be play-off material again.

“We have plenty of experience in the team this year along with our two young reserves who we’re very happy to have back, and it’s all looking positive for the new season.”

The full Bees line-up for the 2015 Elite League campaign is as follows: Hans Andersen, Chris Harris (c), Danny King, Cameron Woodward, Stuart Robson, Jason Garrity, James Sarjeant.
