THREE Rugby swimmers were selected to represent Warwickshire in their bid to regain the National Inter-counties Championships at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre in Rugby.

Warwickshire had won the title eight times in the last ten years and look like doing so again thanks to the help of Elaine Bromwich, Ross Turner and Simon Rigg.

The competition is split into age groups for individual and relays swims in a gruelling 68-event schedule.

Warwickshire easily won the Midlands regional title by over 100 points after winning more than half of the events across the evening.

Simon helped the men’s 72+ relay team to victory, despite the team actually having a combined age of 151.

And Elaine romped home in her 65+ breaststroke race in her first swim inside the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre.

Simon also finished second in the 35+ age group, but would have won his own 45+ age group by two seconds, while Ross won the 18+ age group.

Ross also swam backstroke in the same age group finishing second which was a good result in an unfavoured event.

Warwickshire will be hoping they have done enough to claim the Championship with the full national results yet to come in.
