Rugby quintet complete Cotswolds 24-hour race

Rugby Editorial 9th Aug, 2018   0

FIVE Rugby triathletes worked up a sweat at the Cotswolds 24-hour race in Cirencester.

Andy Burston, David Williams, Pete Williams, James Wigley and James Day were the second place male team (three to five members) and seventh in the overall standings.

The group covered 186 miles between them in the 24 hours with each athlete completing six or seven of the 9km laps.

Meanwhile, the father-and-daughter team of Jack and Marinthe de Bokx were racing at the long distance Alpe d’Huez triathlon in France.

This was a gruelling event which featured a swim in the waters of the Lac du Verney, a 118km bike road with three categorised climbs followed by a 20km run. The pair finished the triathlon in just over 11 hours.
