RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club enjoyed a near unbeaten week as both their Ladies’ and Men’s teams impressed.
The Ladies first team beat Warwick University 2-1 before the third and fourth teams beat Towcester 3-1 and 3-0 respectively.
And the Men’s first team won a 5-4 thriller against Boots before the second team were held to a 3-3 draw with West Bridgford.
The third team thrashed Nottingham Players 5-1 whilst the fourth team beat Leicester Westleigh by the same scoreline.
And the fifth team edged out Leicester 2-1 before the sixth team were hammered 8-0 by Market Harborough.
RESULTS
REWHC Ladies 2nd 2-1 Warwick University 1st
A very tight game against league leaders Warwick University saw Rugby grind out a win thanks to two second half goals from Lilla Gane and Jodie Kelsall.
REWHC Ladies 3rd 3-1 Towcester 3rd
Two goals to Ruby Clark and another to Anna saw Rugby string together some great passes to beat a Towcester side that came out swinging. Player of the match went to debutante Lauren.
REWHC Ladies 4th 3-0 Towcester 5th
Two goals to Jackie Adlum and a third to Hazel Fairtlough saw Rugby comfortably ahead of Towcester.
REWHC Men’s 1st 5-4 Boots
Rugby came back from a 4-2 deficit within the last seven minutes to complete the comeback and secure a great win at Boots.
REWHC Men’s 2nd 3-3 West Bridgford 2nd
A very tight game saw both teams capitalise on the rush in a game that saw Rugby score within the final minute to tie it. Man of the match James Cummins, Charlie Darbyshire and Mike White scored for Rugby.
REWHC Men’s 3rd 5-1 Nottingham Players 1st
A dominant performance from Rugby in the first half saw Rugby take a four goal lead thanks to goals from Alex Salter, Mat Nobes, Calum Mackay and a beautiful finish from man of the match Adam Haslam. Kiran Clark scored in the second half to comfortably see Rugby through a comfortable win over Nottingham.
REWHC Men’s 4th 5-1 Leicester Westleigh 2nd
Two goals to man of the match Richard Cook as well as one apiece for Jamie Carr, Nick Foster and Mark Schoble as Rugby took a solid win over Leicester.
REWHC Men’s 5th 2-1 Leicester 3rd
Ben Hardy and Ed Newton helped Rugby secure a well deserved win in a tight game as Nick Harding earned man of the match for his defensive work.
REWHC Men’s 6th 0-8 Market Harborough
A tough game for Rugby against a very strong Market Harborough side saw Arthur Shaw earn himself man of the match for his work rate at right wing.
