RESULTS - Rugby and East Warwickshire Hockey Club

RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club endured a mixed week of results on their return to action after the Christmas break.

 

The Men’s first team played out an entertaining 4-4 draw with Loughborough University whilst the Men’s second team edged out the same opposition 2-1.

 




And the Ladies second team were also held to a draw as they battled to a 1-1 draw with league leaders Warwick.

 


However, the Men’s third team were thrashed 5-1 by Ashby’s first team whilst the Men’s fourth team won by the same scoreline with a dominant display against Tamworth.

 

Lastly, Rugby’s Men’s sixth team lost 2-0 to Ashby with the over-50’s ensuring the club ended the weekend on a winning note thanks to a 1-0 victory over Old Bristolians.

 

RESULTS

REWHC Men’s 1st 4-4 Loughborough University 2nd

A very tight game saw Rugby come back from multiple deficits as Adam Hewitt finished off two penalty strokes, Andy Walker potted a drag flick and Luke Armstrong netted a diving deflection to keep the scores level.

 

REWHC Men’s 2nd 2-1 Loughborough University 3rd

A fantastic team effort saw Liam Brown score two goals to keep Rugby ahead of the students. Joe Manning earned man of the match for his shutdown play in the midfield.

 

REWHC Ladies 2nd 1-1 Warwick 1st

A comeback performance against league leaders saw Emma S convert a penalty corner late in the second half whilst Mary Burton won player of the match for numerous saves off the goal line to keep Rugby in the game.

 

REWHC Men’s 3rd 1-5 Ashby 1st

An early goal from Ryan Hibberd put Rugby up early but they weren’t able to keep the lead. Man of the match went to Calum Mackay for his performance in the midfield.

 

REWHC Men’s 4th 5-1 Tamworth 2nd

Two goals to Tom Scott-Brown and one apiece to man of the match Charlie, David Odwell and Leigh Spacey saw Rugby complete a convincing win over Tamworth.

 

REWHC Men’s 6th 0-2 Ashby 3rd

Rugby could not find the goal away at Ashby as Andy Morgan earned man of the match for his efforts in goal.

 

REWHC O50 1-0 Old Bristolians
