RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club’s Ladies first team have been promoted to the National League for the first time.
The Ladies’ first team were victorious in a winner takes all clash against Matlock Baileans securing a 3-1 success to become the first team in the club’s history to reach the National League.
Elsewhere, the second team played out a goalless draw against Warwick, the third team were beaten 3-0 by Leicester City and the fourth team beat Northampton Saints 3-0.
The Men’s first team ended the season with a 3-1 win against Hampton-in-Arden whilst the second team lost 2-0 to Coventry and North Warwick.
And the third team were also beaten after suffering a heavy 6-0 defeat to Boots, however, the fourth team thrashed Northampton Saints 4-1 and the fifth team were 1-0 winners against Tamworth.

REWHC Ladies 1st 3-1 Matlock Baileans
A winner takes all match to win the league and secure national league saw Nicki Siarbawa score twice from a penalty flick and a short corner rebound and Jen Law cleanly finished off a short corner of her own to finish the season on a high. Rugby’s ladies become the first side in the club’s history to reach the national league – a fantastic achievement.

Goals to joint players of the match Liz Teeton and Hazel saw Rugby complete a strong season on a high with a complete game over Northampton.
REWHC Men’s 1st 3-1 Hampton-in-Arden 1st
A good end to the season saw goals from Jack Fisher, Sam Bevin and Ollie Thomas as part of a convincing win for Rugby to end the season. Jim Dickinson earned player of the match for his efforts in transition from defence to attack.

A difficult end to the season for Rugby saw them fall to a strong Boot’s side as Charlie Crinnigan won man of the match for a strong performance in a new position.

REWHC Men’s 5th 1-0 Tamworth
Rugby ended the season with a tight victory over Tamworth despite having the majority of the chances on goal. Tom Scott-Brown earned man of the match for breaking the deadlock with the lone goal of the game.
