Rugby Editorial 24th Mar, 2022   0

RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club’s under-10 Boys’ and Girls’ teams became Warwickshire Champions this past weekend.

The under-10 boys were in scintillating form to take the trophy whilst the girls drew 0-0 with Khalsa as both teams claimed the title ahead of competing at the Midlands finals.

And the Ladies’ enjoyed another stellar week with the first team easing past Leek 4-0 whilst the second team beat Towcester 3-0 and the third team won by the same scoreline against Loughborough.

However, the Men’s teams were unable to match this success as the first team drew 0-0 with Leek whilst the second team were thrashed 8-1 by Birmingham University.

The third team went down 3-2 against Derwent with the fourth team beating Leicester 3-1 and the fifth team winning 3-2 against Northampton Saints.

And the sixth team were beaten 3-2 by Berkswell BC with the first team in action again on Sunday where they beat Leek 1-0 in their second match in as many days.

The club’s younger teams were also in action with the under-12 boys beaten in the semi-finals of the Midlands Tournament out of 116 clubs.

And the under-12 girls missed out on the top half of the draw in their Midlands Tournament by a single goal despite only losing one of their six games.
