Rawlings and Turton run riot against Hathern

HAT-TRICK hero Tom Rawlings continued Rugby Borough’s 100% start in a nine-goal thriller in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division last weekend.

A David Moyo strike and a Tom Turton brace helped Rugby get the better of Hathern in a 6-3 win, helping breed even more confidence ahead of Saturday’s (3pm) game against GNG FC.

Turton opened the scoring when smashing the ball home from close range, although Borough had keeper Ryan Woodward to thank for keeping them ahead at 1-0.

An equaliser eventually arrived courtesy of Liam Walton, but Rawlings immediately restored Rugby’s lead when meeting Moyo’s cross.

The pair linked up again to make it 3-1 early in the second half before Ryan Langdon pulled a goal back, though Moyo seemingly eased fears of a comeback when notching goal number four.

Hathern then reduced the deficit to one for a second time of the afternoon through James Beech with less than 20 minutes to go, prior to Rawlings’ hat-trick goal and a second for Turton from Adam Barber’s centre.
