Podiums aplenty for Rugby junior triathletes in Southam

SEVEN podium places were claimed by Rugby junior triathletes, in the penultimate race of the club’s season at the Southam Autumn Triathlon.

RJTC were represented by 22 members in all at Southam College, with Tom Tyler taking the first podium of the day with a race win in the 15 and over age category.

He completed the 400m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run in 59:09, closely followed by teammate Jake Louis who finished fifth with a 1:02:12 time.

From there, the club continued to record even more successes.




Jacob Hayward (9:16) and Phoebe Sanders (11:28) both came third in their respective races in the Tri Start event for eight-year-olds, while Finlay Heywood (9:18) and Ruby Daly (11:42) both finished fourth.

In Tri Star 1 for nine and ten-year-olds, no podium places were claimed, though Holly Allen (18:17), Layla Rose (18:39), Niamh Daly (19:52) and Edith Heywood (20:41) all impressed when finishing in fifth through to eighth.


Will Stiles (18:14, ninth), William Dredge (18:47, tenth), Nate Tilt (22:03, 15th) and Aaron Morris (23:18, 16th) then completed the line up for the club.

The club returned to the podium in Tri Star 2 thanks to Emily Hayward (26:41) and Scarlett Sanders (28:59) – who placed second and third respectively – while Georgia Stiles (30:09, fourth), Zoe Dredge (33:39, eighth) and Madison Bailey (39:47, 11th) followed shortly behind.

George Morris (34:57) was the sole male triathlete in the event, finishing in 18th.

In the final event of the day in Tri Star 3, Hannah Tilt took a race win with her 38:27 time, while Harrison Bailey placed seventh after an impressive race in 49:09.
