OLD Laurentians RFC’s under 10’s side had the honour of stepping out onto Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road pitch recently, when they were invited to participate in the U10’s Prima Tiger Cup festival.
Taking in Tigers’ narrow 19-14 victory over Wasps in the Gallagher Premiership, the team then had the opportunity to play on the same pitch themselves, watched on by family and supporters in attendance.
The Prima Tiger Cup was celebrated for its 25th season this year, an annual tournament which has more than 70 teams entered from across Norfolk, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
OL’s were joined on the day by Crusaders, Market Rasen & Louth, Newark, Old Newtonians, Silhillians, Sutton Coldfield and Wymondham on the day, and coach Andrew Clark believed it was a fantastic experience for his young side.
“It’s been brilliant, a really good day of rugby.
“To watch Tigers play in the Premiership is great and the kids were still happy to watch the win and then get to play.
“Everyone enjoyed the festival and they are very excited to play here on the Welford Road pitch.”
