Hodson-Dent comes to Rugby Town Colts rescue to earn a draw

RUGBY Town Colts earned a well-earned point in a 2-2 draw away at Binley Woods on Sunday, but will be wondering how they didn’t take all three, in the Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League U14 Division C.

The Colts are still in with a shout of finishing third, dependent on Bulkington Sport Lions’ final two results – sitting two points behind them on 21 points.

Oscar Thornton and Danny Winn were effective pushing forward as wing backs, as the visitors promptly opened the scoring through Somi Adeosun’s fantastic strike, whilst Thomas Nessling went close moments later.

The Binley Woods goalmouth was subjected to a plethora of crosses from Fin Simms, from which chances continued to fall for Rugby’s forwards, but somehow the hosts limited the Colts to just the one goal.

Before Rugby had time to react, they found themselves 2-1 down following a quickfire double by Binley Woods.

The Colts did not let the surprise deficit phase them, and continued to push forward.

Their best chance to pull themselves level came when Adeosun stepped up to take a penalty, but was unable to beat the keeper as Binley Woods survived.

An equaliser came when a long-range free kick from Devan Hodson-Dent evaded everyone, including the keeper, on making its way into the net.

Colts face bottom-side Mount Nod Juniors on Sunday in their final game of the league campaign.
