George Moore triumphs in senior race

A DOMINANT ride by Rugby Velo’s George Moore saw him claim victory in Round Seven of the BWA West Midlands Cyclo-cross League in Wolverhampton.

With many steep banks throughout the classic Aldersley Leisure Village course, riders were lucky to avoid rains that adorned much of the country.

Moore was able to win the senior race after Jeremy Hicks had led for a brief period early on, and despite his early pace Hicks was made to settle for sixth after losing time mid-race.

Other notable Velo placings include James Garrett who finished 11th, Phillip Hughes came 50th, Jonathon Todd crossed in 70th and Mark Humphreys came ten places behind.

In the morning’s veteran 50+ race, Gary Hipwell took ninth place in a race that featured current National Champion Phil Roach.

Garrett followed in 16th place, whilst Pete Mooney took third in the 65+ class and Steven Humphreys struggled to sixth place in the junior race.
