TREY Charles scored deep into injury time to rescue a point for Rugby Town in a 2-2 draw with Shepshed Dynamo.

Charles equalised in the fifth minute of time added on after he also levelled the game earlier in the second half at Butlin Road.

The result means Rugby sit 12th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.

Shepshed took a one-goal lead into the break as Kyle Dixon curled a shot into the corner of the net from just inside the penalty area after Paul Hathaway parried Connor Furey’s initial driven effort.

Rugby equalised eight minutes after the break when Charles headed in Hilton Arthur’s cross from the right after good work from Edwin Ahenkorah.

However, the visitors reclaimed the lead on 57 minutes when Dixon scored his second goal of the game from the penalty spot after Harrison Nee handled the ball in the box.

Valley missed a number of chances to draw level as Nee, Liam Francis, Mikey Taylor and David Kolodynski all saw chances go begging.

The home side eventually equalised at the death as Charles steered a header into the net via the underside of the crossbar after Francis powerfully headed a free-kick across the box.

Rugby are next in action away at Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, August 24 with kick-off at 3pm at Coles Lane.
