RUGBY Town are now three points from safety in the Northern Premier League Midlands relegation zone following a 2-0 defeat against Anstey Nomads.
A first-half brace from Jacob Fenton condemned Valley to defeat at Cropston Road as Rubgy saw their winless run stretch to four matches.
Rugby sit 19th in the NPL Midlands table, three points from safety in the relegation zone.
Carl Adams’ side started brightly as Liam Francis failed to properly connect with Trey Charles’ in-swinging cross.
However, following a sustained period of pressure, Anstey broke the deadlock on 24 minutes when Fenton headed home Zayn Hakeem’s cross at the back post from seven-yards out.
And the home side doubled their lead four minutes before half time as Fenton tapped in from close range after Paul Hathaway could only parry Hakeem’s initial effort.
Valley’s best chance after the break fell to Charles who was unable to find the net with his curling effort from Caine Elliott’s lofted through ball.
Rugby are next in action against Loughborough Students on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
