FOOTBALL - Rugby Town concede two late goals in defeat at Eynesbury

RUGBY Town conceded two late goals to suffer a 3-1 defeat away at Eynesbury Rovers and extend their winless run to four matches in all competitions.

Valley trailed at the break to Kwadwo Bugyei-Kyei’s strike before substitute Madundo Semahimbo brought Rugby level with his first goal for the club.

However, James Hatch grabbed a late brace for the home side to snatch all three points and condemn Rugby to back-to-back defeats in the league for the first time since September.

Valley remain fourth in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, two points adrift of Newport Pagnell Town in third who have three games in hand.

The deadlock was broken at the Alfred Hall Memorial Ground on 25 minutes when Bugyei-Kyei’s deflected shot left Ash Bodycote with no chance in the Rugby goal.

Substitute Semahimbo came off the bench to bring Valley level on 74 minutes after David Kolodynski’s initial shot was saved.

However, Rugby gifted Eynesbury the points on 89 minutes when full-back Harry Eden inadvertently played Hatch clean through on goal with the striker finding the net when one-on-one with Bodycote.

And the home side wrapped up the points eight minutes into time added on when Hatch closed down Bodycote’s clearance with the ball ricocheting into the net to compound Valley’s misery.

Rugby are next in action away at Newport Pagnell Town on Tuesday, March 15 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Willen Road.
