RUGBY Borough Women reached the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup with a comprehensive 6-0 victory away at London Bees.
A brace from Angelina Nixon and further goals from Nicky Potts, Ebony Wiseman, Mai Moncaster and Rhianne Rush sealed Borough’s place in round five at The Hive.
Victory puts Borough in the hat for the fifth round draw which takes place at Wembley on Monday, January 13 at 6.30pm on the competition’s official YouTube channel.
Borough play one level above the Bees in the Northern Premier Division while the home side ply their trade in Division One South East of the Women’s National League.
Rugby broke the deadlock on 23 minutes when Moncaster’s ball across the box deflected into the path of Potts who slammed the ball home.
And Borough doubled their lead four minutes later as Wiseman fired a first time shot into the bottom right corner from 15-yards out from Nixon’s lay off following a corner.
The visitors stretched their lead three minutes before half time when Moncaster headed Wiseman’s corner from the right into the bottom left corner.
And Borough struck again in first-half injury time as Nixon nodded in at the second attempt after her initial effort came back off the crossbar.
Rugby made sure of their place in the fifth round four minutes after half time when Rush coolly found the bottom left corner from Moncaster’s pass.
And the visitors added some gloss to the scoreline six minutes from time as Nixon scored her second of the game into an empty net from Meg Shaw’s ball across the box.
Rugby Borough Women are next in action against Liverpool Feds on Sunday, January 19 with kick-off at 2pm at Jericho Lane.
