RUGBY BOROUGH WOMEN returned to action with a 4-1 victory against Droitwich Spa Ladies in the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League.
Megan Board struck twice on her return to the club with Sydney Lowe and Cammie Tarrant also on target for Rugby.
After a sloppy start, Rugby picked up the pace and missed a host of chances before Lowe scored directly from a corner to send Borough into the break with a narrow lead.
And Borough doubled their lead in the second period when Board struck in her first game since re-signing for the club.
However, Droitwich Spa pulled a goal back through Mia Bowen to halve the deficit only for Board to net her second of the game soon after to restore Rugby’s two-goal cushion.
Droitwich almost reduced Rugby’s lead again when Beth Daly gave away a penalty only for the Borough goalkeeper to make a calm save from the resulting spot kick.
And Tarrant wrapped up the win when she headed in from Beth Fesel’s corner to complete a welcome return to action for Rugby after the Christmas break.
Rugby are next in action at home to Sedgley and Gornal United Women on Sunday, January 23 at Kilsby Lane.
