FOOTBALL - Rugby Borough target FA Vase history against Heanor Town

RUGBY Borough are expecting a large crowd this weekend as the club attempt to create history in the FA Vase.

Borough host Heanor Town in the third round of the competition at Kilsby Lane.

The club have never previously advanced past the third round in their short history.

Rugby beat Leicester Nirvana in the league last weekend as Brady Middleton scored the game’s only goal to leave Borough third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table.

And Borough boss Dave Stringer has a full squad to choose from.

Stringer said: “We will have a look at everyone at training and decide which players will do the job for us on Saturday.

“It’s been a challenge with players coming and going but we have a fully fit squad and with the return of Shaun Ruzvidzo adding more power to the midfield we feel we can do okay.”

Opponents Heanor play at the same level as Borough in the United Counties League Premier Division North.

Heanor sit ninth in the table and suffered a 3-1 defeat at Newark and Sherwood United in their last outing.

Borough host Heanor on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.

Rugby’s women’s side are also in cup action this weekend after they thrashed Peterborough United 7-1 in the previous round of the FA Cup.

The club’s women’s side play at Tier Three in the Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.

Borough Women host Mancunian Unity in the Women’s FA Cup third round on Sunday, December 8 with kick-off at 2pm at Kilsby Lane.
