RUGBY Borough suffered back-to-back defeats in the league for the first time this season after losing 2-1 at Carlton Town.
Goals from Lamin Manneh and Niall Davie put Carlton in command at the break at the Bill Stokeld Stadium.
However, a late goal from Cam Collins set up a nervy finish with Rugby unable to find an equaliser in the remaining minutes.
The result means Borough sit sixth in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points behind new leaders Carlton who have three games in-hand.
Carlton took the lead in style on 22 minutes as Manneh scored a stunning goal from distance, finding the top corner to put the home side in front.
And Manneh then won a penalty on 37 minutes after he drew a foul in the box as Carlton captain Davie found the net from the spot.
Borough halved the deficit nine minutes from time courtesy of a well-taken finish from Collins.
The visitors pushed for a late equaliser but could not find a way through as Carlton hung on to move top of the table.
Rugby are next in action against Belper Town on Saturday, November 1 with kick-off at 3pm at the Raygar Stadium.
