RUGBY Borough cruised to an emphatic 4-0 home win against St Neots Town to end the club’s three-game losing run in the league.
A brace from Tyrell Waite and further goals from Cam Collins and Will Grocott sealed the points for Borough at Kilsby Lane.
The result means Rugby sit 15th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Borough made a bright start as Kane Richards forced St Neots goalkeeper James Goff into an early save at his near post.
And Goff then parried another effort to safety after good work from Lindon Meikle as a sudden snow and hail storm swept over the ground.
St Neots threatened at the other end as Rugby goalkeeper Marcus Bald turned a shot around the post.
Rugby looked certain to score soon after only for Gary Stohrer to head Waite’s cross narrowly over the crossbar.
Meikle then had a goal ruled out but Borough eventually broke the deadlock on 38 minutes when Waite tapped into the bottom corner from close range.
And Rugby doubled their lead just three minutes later as Collins powered a shot into the top-right corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Borough extended their lead after the break on 52 minutes when Grocott scored from the penalty spot after Goff brought down Richards in the box.
And the home side sealed the points one minute into injury time as Waite tapped in Stohrer’s cross from close range.
Rugby are next in action against Loughborough Students on Saturday, April 4 with kick-off at 3pm at the Loughborough University Stadium.
