RUGBY Borough made the perfect start to life at Step Four with a thrilling 3-2 win at Boldmere St Michaels on the opening day of the season.

A late goal from Will Grocott earned Borough the points after Cam Collins put the visitors ahead at the break at the Amber Arena.

However, goals from Harry Wakefield and Kory Burke turned the game in Boldmere’s favour only for Luke Rowe to draw Borough level before Grocott grabbed the winner.

The result means Rugby sit third in the Northern Premier League Midlands table.

Borough named seven debutants in the starting line-up and broke the deadlock four minutes before half time as Collins looped a header over the Boldmere goalkeeper.

However, the home side drew level on 52 minutes when Wakefield scored from the penalty spot.

And Boldmere completed the turnaround on 72 minutes as substitute Burke headed in Charlie Manners’ cross at the back post.

Borough equalised seven minutes later as Rowe found the net after good work down the right.

And the visitors struck again on 81 minutes as Grocott curled a shot into the top right corner of the goal following a short corner routine with Leo Stone.

Rugby are next in action against AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Wednesday, August 13 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Kilsby Lane.
