RUGBY Borough manager Dave Stringer has expressed his satisfaction with his side’s encouraging start to the campaign, five games into the new season.
Borough have picked up three wins and two draws from their opening fixtures, leaving Stringer pleased but convinced his side could have even more points.
He cited draws against St Neots Town and AFC Rushden and Diamonds as games Borough should have won.
Stringer said: “We were unlucky not to get three points at St Neots where we dominated for long periods.
“And at home to Rushden, again we should have won after a great second-half performance.
“I’d even go as far as to say we should still be in the cup competitions – both the FA Cup and Trophy ties were close, but we just couldn’t find the net.
“I take five games at a time, look back and analyse them, and then see if we need any additional resources to make us better.”
And the Borough boss hopes to add to his squad to improve the strength in depth available to him.
Stringer added: “It’s a tough division – bottom can beat top, and looking at some of the recent results, that’s exactly what’s happening.
“I feel we are short in a couple of areas and I hope to get a couple over the line this week.
“But they have to be the right players, ones who buy into our system here at Borough.”
Rugby are next in action against Wellingborough Town on Saturday, September 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
