RUGBY Borough were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the Birmingham Vase by Cadbury Athletic before then suffering just their third league defeat of the season against Thurnby Rangers.
Borough succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at Cadbury before losing top spot in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division after going down 2-1 at home to Thurnby.
That means Borough now trail Allexton and New Parks in the table by a single point with three games in hand on the new leaders.
Rugby trailed Cadbury by a single goal at the break in their cup semi-final before Dale Linton equalised in the second period.
However, Cadbury regained the lead from the penalty spot before securing their place in the final late on as Borough pushed for a leveller.
And Rugby lost for a third successive game against Thurnby on Monday night with a defensive mix-up allowing the visitors to take the lead at Kilsby Lane.
Borough drew level when Ethan Meadows fired a shot through a crowd of bodies and into the corner before forcing the Thurbny goalkeeper into a number of fine saves as the home side pushed for a winner.
However, Rugby were once again beaten by a late goal to suffer just their third defeat in 26 league matches this season.
Borough are next in action away at Magna 73 FC on Saturday, March 26 with kick-off at 3pm at Meadows Sports Ground.
Elsewhere, Rugby Borough Royals lifted the Rugby and District Sunday Football League Division 1 league title, winning all 12 of their matches under the guidance of player-manager Mark Brazier.
