DOM GALLAGHER scored a hat-trick as Hillmorton Reserves thrashed Daventry Drayton Grange 7-3 to reach the Rugby Hospital Cup final in their first season.
Gallagher’s treble was accompanied by goals from Andy Gilroy, Charlie Watson, Billy Sewell and Joe Taylor in a clinical performance.
Hillmorton’s young side were dominant throughout and were two goals up in the opening 10 minutes with Gallagher and Gilroy on target.
Daventry halved the deficit only for Watson to restore Hillmorton’s two-goal lead after a period of constant pressure.
However, Daventry struck again in the second period before substitute Taylor teed up Sewell for a tap in.
And Taylor then grabbed a goal for himself with a sumptuous free-kick from 20-yards out before Gallagher netted twice more to complete his hat-trick and round off a stunning victory.
A last minute penalty allowed Daventry to score a third goal but it was too little too late as Steve Heighton’s men comfortably booked their place in the final.
Hillmorton will meet Community Relations in the final on Sunday, May 1 with kick-off at 11am at Butlin Road.
