Droobers improve ranking but miss out on national top-three

OCTAVIAN Droobers just missed out on a podium place in the delayed 2020 final of the National Interclub competition.

The event, held a year later than planned, took place at Tankersley Woods, north of Sheffield, and organised by South Yorkshire Orienteering Club.

Droobers fielded a strong team in the final of the CompassSport Cup to come home in fourth place, two places higher than in the 2019 final, after scoring 2,183 points from 25 contributing club members.

Congratulations to the club members who scored points competing in their age class courses: Sheila Carey 100 (maximum and 1st place), Bruce Bryant 99, Barry Elkington 98, Nathan Lawson 97 points, Alistair Landels 97, William Gardner 96, Keith Willdig 96, Janet Richardson 94, Kirsten Strain 94, Richard Gardner 93, Sue Hallett 92, Anne Straube 90, Peter Carey 89, Alistair Powell 88, Andy Emmerson 86, Chris McCartney 85, David Lawson 84, Harriet Lawson 83, David Leadley 81, Liz Phillips 79, Rupert Powell 74, Thelma Spalton 74, Philip Ainsley 72, Mike Hampton 72, Stephen Elkington 70.




South Yorkshire were the winners, with Forth Valley second and West Cumberland third.
