Borough raid County Hall with second-half goal glut

Rugby Editorial 6th Oct, 2020   0

RUGBY Borough continued their Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division title conquest with a 4-0 thrashing of County Hall on Saturday.

Tommy Young and Tom Wardle’s men took control in the second-half, with goals from Josh Turton, substitute Nic Whittam and Brad West all netting to complete the rout, following a captain’s goal from Dom Bolton in the opening period.

Borough rise to third as a result of their third victory of the season, five points behind leaders Cottesmore AFC – who have won all five games played so far this term.

Bolton, made captain for the afternoon, demonstrated real desire to match the occasion with a goal in Borough’s forward line, doing just that when touching the ball home after a bout of Rugby pressure at Kilsby Lane.

While the rain was torrential as the second half got underway, an effort from Turton gave the hosts breathing space, before Whittam put the result beyond doubt when getting up highest to head home from a corner.

There was still time for a fourth too, as West broke through on goal to bury a left-footed strike into the corner and gift wrap the three points.

Borough aim to keep the ball rolling this Saturday at home to seventh-placed Allexton & New Parks (3pm) – and will bid to score four goals for a third game in succession, and the fourth time this term.
