JEEHAN Barhey scored a half-century but it was not enough to give Rugby a winning end to the Warwickshire League Premier Division.
Barhey top-scored with 53 in Rugby’s total of 188-9 but visitors Bedworth timed their run chase perfectly to win from the penultimate ball and with four wickets in hand.
Rugby’s final score was below what they might have expected when, having opted to bat first, they were 134-2.
Skipper Matthew Ewer (21) and Michael Hughes (22) provided a steady start with an opening 48-run stand and then Barhey and Henry Parker (29) added 85 runs for the third wicket. But Parker’s departure signalled a flurry of dismissals as Ashley Cutts took 4-52.
Opener Ryan Parnell led Bedworth’s reply, scoring a steady 71 off 129 balls before falling as the fifth wicket to Ewer (2-39). They needed five runs off the final over and got there off the fifth delivery, Finn Haynes hitting a four.
