YOUNGSTERS in Rugby are being challenged to get creative on the theme of ‘lockdown’.
The town’s three Rotary Clubs have joined forces with Rugby Art Gallery and Museum to give under-18s a chance to showcase their writing, artistic or musical skills.
Everyone who submits a piece will receive a certificate, and works will be featured on the Rotary websites and in a Springtime Festival in the May half term, as well as selected pieces being shown at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum in the summer.
Rex Pogson from the Rotary Club of Rugby, speaking on behalf of Rugby’s three Rotary Clubs, said: “We know you might not have had as many chances as possible over lockdown to be creative, so take us up on the challenge and show us your best skills.
“It’s been a very worrying and tough time for people, but it also gave many people the chance to show just how creative, caring and resilient they can be. We hope some young people will enjoy thinking about that, and taking part in this challenge.
“It’s not a competition – it’s the doing and the taking-part which is the main idea.”
Entrants are challenged to write a poem of no more than 14 lines, write a prose passage of no more than 400 words, draw or paint a picture no bigger than A4 size, or write and perform a song lasting no more than three minutes – all on the theme of ‘lockdown’.
Enter by May 22 to have works displayed at half-term – but entries after that date are still welcome.
