Rugby Editorial 12th Nov, 2021   0

A VICTORIAN-themed Christmas concert in Rugby will raise money for charity.

The Rotary Club of Rugby is staging A Victorian Celebration of Christmas at Lawrence Sheriff School.

It is described as a concert with music, songs, poems and sketches illustrating how the Victorians celebrated Christmas, and their influence on how we celebrate Christmas today.

Rugby Operatic Society will perform an extract from The Pirates of Penzance, which premiered in 1879.

Leigh-Anne’s School of Dance will contribute performances including the Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy from Christmas favourite The Nutcracker Suite.

The event will also feature performances from local musicians and performers from Rugby Theatre.

The concert takes place on Friday December 10 at 7.30pm. Victorian costume is optional, with a prize for the best costume.

Tickets cost £10 each, and are available by calling 01788 812839.
