Town centre spring clean prompts plea to keep Rugby tidy

Rugby Editorial 13th Apr, 2022   0

A SPRING clean of Rugby town centre has taken place – prompting a plea to keep the town tidy.

Rugby First’s Cleaning team have been taking part in the two-week Great British Spring Clean initiative organised by Keep Britain Tidy.

Now they are asking residents, businesses and visitors to support their efforts by keeping the town centre clean throughout the year.

Rugby First’s three-person cleaning team provide services including litter, leaf and chewing gum removal, the deep cleaning of pavements and walkways, and more specialised services such as graffiti removal.

They use a small fleet of hi-tech battery-powered cleaning equipment with quirky names such as The Powerflex, The Metro Deep and The Glutton.

Rugby First Operations Director Jo Kemp said: “The cleaning team are one of the core services Rugby First provide to the town centre and businesses within it.

“They deal with a variety of issues which mean companies do not have to employ their own cleaning teams or get specialist contractors in for graffiti. Every year the team deals with over fifty graffiti incidents in the town centre and this has been increasing over the past couple of months.

“A clean, safe and welcoming town centre is fundamental to its operation, growth, economy and success.”
