A SUPERCAR fit for James Bond gave Harris Academy students a glimpse into the world of engineering.

Aston Martin project engineer Bal Choda brought a £220,000 Aston Martin Vanquish V12 to amaze Harris Academy staff and students, and used it to deliver a fascinating insight into what it is like to work for one of the world’s most prestigious marques.

Mr Choda told a group of 120 students about how he enjoyed being an engineer and the importance of engineering to the economy.

He also spoke passionately on the history of Aston Martin, why women are important to engineering, and how to impress at job interviews.

The event concluded with Mr Choda allowing the students and staff to admire the Vanquish – driven by Pierce Brosnan’s 007 in the 2002 film Die Another Day – and student Jack Wallace, who has secured an apprenticeship at Jaguar Landrover, was even allowed to sit in the car.

Students and staff said it was an unforgettable experience, and looked forward to hosting similar events in the future.
