Students' mural tells Rugby's story

A MURAL has brought the history of Rugby to a residential care home.

Art and Design students from Warwickshire College’s Rugby centre produced a mural themed around the town’s heritage for Bilton House residential home.

The students all designed their own individual mural, using different techniques and media, before staff and residents chose their favourite elements for the final 4m by 1m design.

Toby Scott, 17, said: “My photo of Lennon Bros in the town is featured which I’m really pleased with. It’s good to see the mural in place on the wall and the residents like it, which is what it was all about.”

Josh Birch, 17, added: “It’s been a really interesting project to be involved with – I’ve learned a lot and it’s been good collaborating on the final mural. To see it on display today is a really good feeling.”

Delia Myers, home manager at Bilton House, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the mural which the students have created, it’s a real talking point, and the residents say each time they walk past they see something different.

“It’s really exceeded our expectations so it was lovely to invite the students in to meet the residents and say thank you in person for all their creativity and hard work.”
