SAM Boneham is preparing for life in the fast lane after winning work experience and a job interview with a company involved in Formula One racing.
The 19-year-old from Welford was selected as the highest achieving student on the Level 3 Engineering course at Warwickshire College’s Rugby and Warwick centres.
And his prize is £500 and the chance of working with Northamptonshire-based Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) which designs and manufactures engines and hybrid systems for the Mercedes AMG Petronas team whose drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg lead this season’s F1 Constructors’ Championship.
The company also supplies parts the Sahara Force India, Williams Martini Racing and McLaren Mercedes teams.
Colin Meikle, technical academy manager for engineering at the college, said: “It will be an experience for Sam and we hope it inspires him to continue achieving at the highest level.”
