KIND-HEARTED staff at a Rugby recruitment firm have pledged to raise £55,000 to help a disabled town youngster with vital equipment and alterations to her home.

Mia Williams, who attends Brooke School has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and was also born without eyes. As Mia cannot walk she has to be carried around the family home by parents Dean and Fran.

Staff at eResponse, where Dean works, have committed to holding a variety of fund-raising events, including a high-profile charity ball next year, to support eight-year-old.

Managing director Paul Alekna said: “We support a variety of charities every year but now we have decided to channel everything into helping Mia.

“We won’t stop until we’ve reached the target and will do all we can to hit that goal as quickly as possible.

“She has a variety of conditions that means she needs extra support. We want to help an amazing little girl and her equally amazing family and have already started our fundraising efforts.”

Mr Alekna said the money raised would go towards a specially-fitted bath for Mia, various pieces of equipment and contributions towards changes to the layout of the family’s home.

Aside from the charity ball next year staff from eResponse, which is based at the IO Centre, will be taking part in cycle rides, marathons, car washes and plan to hold a summer fete.

Mia’s mum Fran said: “It means so much to us that Paul and the team at eResponse have pledged to do their fund-raising for Mia.

“It’s an amazing thing to do and will help Mia to be more independent, have dignity in her care and generally be more comfortable.

“For example, the bath is Mia’s daily opportunity to be free of splints, her wheelchair, lycra suits and so on. As she can’t sit up, and is getting bigger, this bath, and indeed other new equipment, will give her more freedom.

“We are forever grateful and as a family we are also looking forward to being involved in the events.”

Dean, who is also the manager at eResponse’s Rugby branch, and Fran, have two other children – Leo, age three, and one-year-old Iris.
