Staff and students 'delighted' after inspection describes school as a ’special place’

‘DELIGHTED’ staff and students at a Rugby secondary school are celebrating after inspectors described the school as a ’special place’.

Lawrence Sheriff School has been rated ‘outstanding’ in every measure by Ofsted following an inspection.

In its report, the schools inspectorate said the school created ‘a culture where both academic success and personal growth are celebrated’, and praised its ‘clear culture of mutual respect between staff and students’.

Inspectors viewed the school’s curriculum as ‘comprehensive and thought-provoking’, and noted that pupils ‘make strong progress throughout their time at the school’.

They also said the school’s enrichment programme and wider curricular activities were ‘impressive’.

Headteacher Teresa Mpofu said: “It is highly rewarding for the entire school community that Ofsted have visited us and explored the school’s culture so thoroughly, and that in doing so they have fully appreciated the unique opportunities that Lawrence Sheriff offers to its pupils.

“It is such a pleasure to have a highly experienced team of Ofsted inspectors come to Sheriff and tell us that ‘the passion that pupils have for learning is palpable’. As staff, parents and students, what more could we wish to achieve through the education of young people?”
