THE SPOTLIGHT was on Rugby’s independent shops at the height of the festive shopping season on Small Business Saturday (December 7).
Mayor Simon Ward, John Slinger MP and Rugby First Business Director Linda Lowne showed their support by visiting Rugby town centre small businesses.
Small Business Saturday is an annual campaign which takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year to encourage consumers to shop local and support small businesses in their communities.
Linda Lowne said: “We fully support the ‘Small Business Saturday’ campaign, which raises awareness of the amazing range of independent small businesses in our town centre.
“On Saturday we visited a number of small businesses, including Baked Brownies, Jean’s Flowers, Fish and Chips Hub, Cafe Roj, Umai Pan Asian, Don’t Tell Mum, Butterwick, The Annex Studios, The Rugby Hotel, Wild and Free, Victoriana, Mala Beds and Father Christmas at Winter Wonderland.
“One small purchase can make a big difference to a small business. Businesses large and small have faced significant challenges in recent years, and we can all show our support by shopping local this Christmas and throughout the year.”
