THE second Lutterworth Charity Five Mile Fun Run will take place on Sunday, August 3 in aid of Dementia UK.

Organiser Alan Slater hopes to beat the £3,300 total raised by 220 runners at last year’s event.

It was thought up by his daughter Milly, who goes to Sherrier Primary School, in support of her grandfather, who battled with dementia for over three years and died just three weeks after the event

Mr Slater said: “After so much positive feedback, I decided to organise the run again in his memory. I hope to beat last year’s total raised, so we are trying to encourage as many runners as possible to enter.”

The race, supported by ASDA CDC and Powers Carpets and Flooring, starts at 10.30am at Lutterworth Rugby Club on Ashby Lane, Bitteswell and loops in circle via Ashby Parva, Ullesthorpe and back through Bitteswell.

Entry is open to adults over 16 years and costs £10 online at www.lutterworthcharity5milefun.org.uk or by calling Mr Slater on 07793532115.

Under starter’s orders: runners raring to go at last year’s event.
