A FAMILY Fun Day takes place at a Rugby infant school this weekend.

Bawnmore Community Infant School is hosting its first-ever Family Fun Day on Saturday (June 7).

Running from 1pm to 4pm, the event will feature live performances by Bawnmore pupils, Paddox School Choirs, Spellbound Dance, ATMA Karate and ROAR Cheerleaders.

Kids can let off steam on the bouncy castle, slide, climbing frame, tyre park and trim trail, or by taking part in egg and spoon races or the tug-of-war.

Food and drink includes On the Deck Horsebox Pizzeria, a barbecue, Ignazio Ice Creams and a Prosecco Bar.

The school’s Executive Headteacher Mr Newton will also take on the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Organisers aim to raise over £1,000 for the Friends of Bawnmore’s appeal to install new large playground equipment, and for mental health charity Place2Be.

The idea was sparked by Charlotte Pearson, a parent of a Pre-School pupil and a local primary school teacher.

She said: “I wanted to create something fun and exciting for families. What started as a small idea has grown into a full-blown extravaganza with entertainment, food, and games.”

Charlotte’s husband Jack is also raising funds for Place2Be by taking part in this year’s Berlin Marathon, aiming to beat his personal best time of 2 hours and 52 minutes which he clocked up in the London Marathon in 2022.

Head of School Pam Davey added: “At Bawnmore, we work hard to involve all our families in school life. For working parents, weekday events can be tricky, so we hope a Saturday afternoon will be perfect for everyone to come together and enjoy the sunshine.

“We’re also thrilled to support Place2Be, whose work is vital for our children’s wellbeing. Our partner school, Bilton Junior School, has worked with them for years, and it’s great to give something back.

“Bring your picnic blankets, camp chairs, and snacks, and settle in for a joyful afternoon of community, connection, and cause.

“Let’s come together to support children’s mental health and celebrate our amazing school community. We can’t wait to see you there.”

Entry costs £1 per person or £5 for a family ticket (up to 8 people).
