THE TREE of Light is ready to shine again in Rugby in memory of lost loved ones.
The Rotary Club of Rugby’s Tree of Light – the Mayor’s Christmas Tree outside St Andrews Church – will provide a focal point for dedications to deceased friends and family this Christmas season.
The club has been running the charity appeal for 24 years, raising over £3,500 for the Myton Hospices last year, bringing the cumulative total to over £109,000.
Organiser Laurence Wilbraham said: “The tree will be illuminated from November 19 with hundreds of lights over the Christmas period to commemorate our friends and loved ones who are no longer with us.
“Having a way to remember them and keep their memory alive at this time of year is important to everyone.
“The Rotary Club of Rugby invites you to own a light in memory of your loved one with a gift of £5, with all proceeds going to the Myton Hospices. By sponsoring a light as a tribute to a loved one, friend, family member or colleague, you will help to support Myton’s work.”
Loved ones names will be placed on the dedication board at the Tree of Light, and a Book of Remembrance will be placed in St Andrew’s Church before the memorial service on December 2, at which all are welcome.
Dedications for loved ones are now being accepted, with forms available at St Andrew’s Church, Blackham’s Opticians, and the Myton Hospices shop in Rugby Central Shopping Centre.
