TAMIL people living in and around Rugby came together to celebrate Vasantha Vizha – the arrival of spring and the Tamil new year.
Mayor Deepah Roberts inaugurated the festival at Dunchurch Village Hall by lighting a traditional lamp and presenting medals and certificates to the participants.
Tamil traditional food was served on a banana leaf at the celebration, organised by Rugby Tamil Sangam, and attendees took part in group activities including drawing and poetry competitions.
A spokesman said: “The celebration provided an opportunity to bring the Tamil people together and traditionally practice their customs.”
