Rugby's biggest and best fireworks display set to go off next weekend

THE BIGGEST and brightest fireworks display in Rugby is ready to go off next weekend.

Rugby Round Table will host its 71st annual Firework Spectacular at Whinfield Park in Clifton Road on Saturday (November 2).

Born out of an idea to help local orphan children, Rugby Round Table held its first communal fireworks display on November 5, 1951 – and has been held on the Saturday closest to Guy Fawkes night ever since.

A Round Table spokesperson said: “The event relies on the efforts of dozens of volunteers who want to ensure that this is the best fireworks event in Rugby and gives the best possible value for all attendees.

“We’re proud to be still running the event and have been overwhelmed with positive feedback in recent years.”

Gates will open at 4:30pm. A child and toddler-friendly fireworks display begins at 6pm, followed by the main display. Hot food and drink will be available.

All profits from ticket sales go towards local charities and good causes.

Advance discounted tickets are available at £6.50 each, with discounts of 25 per cent on two tickets or more until Friday October 25, or 12.5 per cent until Saturday November 2. Tickets cost £8 each on the gate.
