TWO talented Ashlawn School pupils have claimed fourth place in their category at the 2020-2021 Dance World Cup.
Year 9 pupils Matilda Measures and Lily Kendall-Allen narrowly missed out on a medal in the ‘Junior Song and Dance Duets and Trios ages 14-18’ category.
After months of training and preparation, and competing in a number of local and regional competitions, Matilda and Lily were thrilled to represent England in the world final at the Telford International Centre, where they wowed the judges with their song and dance routine.
The event, which returned from a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, featured a range of live and virtual performances, bringing together 120,000 competitors from 62 countries across the world.
Ashlawn School Principal Siobhan Evans said: “We are incredibly proud of Matilda and Lily for all that they have achieved.
“Not only have they claimed one of the top positions within an international competition, but they were also the youngest competitors within their category. I know they both worked so hard and it is wonderful to see their efforts pay off – well done both of you!”
